Hey everyone,

We want to take a moment to let you all know that we’re currently performing emergency maintenance across our Chicago-based nodes as we revisit and improve our power outage contingency planning.

During the recent major storm, it appears that one of our backup battery systems may have finally reached the end of its lifespan. While it held up as long as it could, the event exposed some weaknesses in our current setup that we simply can’t ignore moving forward. Rather than applying temporary fixes, we’re choosing to take the time to properly reassess, rebuild, and reinforce our infrastructure so that future outages don’t result in the same level of disruption.

We understand how frustrating downtime can be—especially when you just want to hop on and play—and we truly apologize for the inconvenience this causes. This isn’t something we take lightly. Every server, every connection, and every player matters to us more than you probably realize.

That said, we also want to be transparent: operating and maintaining this infrastructure comes with real-world limitations. We’re a small, passion-driven operation, and while we’ve grown significantly, we still have to work within tight resource and budget constraints. Situations like this take time—not because we don’t care, but because we want to make sure we’re doing things the right way instead of rushing out a quick patch that could fail again later.

Our focus right now is stability and long-term reliability. That means carefully testing, replacing aging hardware where necessary, and improving how our systems handle unexpected outages going forward. We’d rather take a bit longer and come back stronger than rush and risk repeat issues.

We appreciate your patience more than we can put into words. Seriously—whether you’ve been here since day one or just joined recently, your support (simply by playing and being part of the community) is what keeps this project alive.

We’ll continue to provide updates here as progress is made.
